You're looking for an outdoor wedding venue around the city of nottinghaM?

As a photographer, lover of the outdoors and documenter of weddings - I have a bit of an insight into local outdoor venues and can help. Here are my absolute favourites that I've had the pleasure of working at over the last few years. I moved down to Nottingham in 2018 and it definitely feels like home now. The mix of an awesome city, the closeness of the Peak district and local areas such as Sherwood Forest too! Check out below my fave venues with links too.

Sherwood glade

Has to be my favourite - each of the weddings I've photographed here have felt so magical, the peace of the forest, the beauty of the tall trees and the hidden feel of this idyllic venue. You're also able to check out some of my photos from a past wedding here.

Oaktree farm

An amazing spot just a little outside of the centre, set in the Nottingham countryside off the beaten track and nestled away in a smallholding, this family run venue is so welcoming and there's so much space for lawn games which is always a bonus.

OLD VICARAGE AT ELKESLEY

In north Nottinghamshire, this amazing venue has a stream running through the grounds, a tipi, stepping stones and some swings across the stream. The wedding I did here was a mix of rain, thunderstorms & sunshine but it was such a good atmosphere and a beautiful setting - they even do a duck race in the stream!

The walled Gardens

Ahhh, my closest wedding venue, 10 mins from my house and an all round favourite. I've photographed multiple weddings here and also attended them as a guest which is extra special to see it from the other side too. It has such a secret garden feel set within Beeston, Nottingham. Can check out another previous wedding reception here too.

Mapperley farm

A lovely spot (technically in Derbyshire, but it's a 20min drive out of Nottingham City Centre) set within a woodland. They have the options of different ceremony locations and you get a lot of free reign to make this space your own! For example I&N chose to hire a marquee in the grounds for their guests to celebrate the day & had a hand fasting ceremony at dusk by a roaring fire.

Norwood park

Such an incredible venue with such a variety of ceremony spaces - I've had the pleasure of photographing in each of them over the years and it's always an amazing day, anytime of year. The band stand is available throughout May - September and is such a wonderful setting.

Inkersall grange farm

I remember my first ever wedding here back in 2018 and to see how the venue has grown and expanded over the years is amazing - now adding on accommodation and preparation space as well as a mix of ceremony spaces, including outside infront of the tipi. North of Nottingham, close to Sherwood Forest, a great mix of being close to the city and the open countryside.

Hodsock priory

On the border of Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire this venue is a recent addition to my ever growing portfolio of venues. C&E opted for an indoor wedding on their day in September but there is space for an outdoor ceremony set within the grounds of this historic country house.

Shottle hall

Edging towards the Peak District this venue is just under an hour from Nottingham City centre. Built in 1861, this victorian building is wonderfully charming and with such amazing views over the surrounding countryside it's a great spot!

Other venues:

Being in the East Midlands, there is such a wide range of wedding venues, especially outdoor ones - I've got a fair few on my wish list.

A reminder...

No matter where you choose to get married, being surrounded by your favourite people, friends and family far and wide are what make a wedding day. Rain or shine, you'll be married at the end of the day and that is what's important - it's great to pick a location that suits the two of you and really reflects on who you are as a couple. Let me know if you're looking for a photographer throughout the midlands and the UK as I love travelling to see new venues too.
