Derbyshire DIY Vegan Wedding
Updated: Apr 14, 2020
Featured on the blog this time is the wonderful wedding of Lucy & Jack which took place last August in one of my favorite places, Ashover. (I used to live on a farm there for a few years so it's got a special place in my heart!) The day was filled with laughter, a lot of love, tears, AMAZING vegan food supplied by Imad's Syrian Kitchen.
I met with Lucy at her parents house where everyone was finalising getting ready, it was a very relaxed morning with Lucy's mum even finishing off some cake making for dessert. The ceremony took place in Alfreton at Christ the King Church, so I left a little earlier ahead of Lucy to capture Jack (in his AMAAAAZING SUIT!) and their guests arriving at the church. It was the beginning of August and the day was SO hot, between the guests necking litres of water and hiding in the shade, Lucy arrived in absolute style! A string quartet then played as Jack stood waiting with his best men, bridesmaids then walking down the aisle and then the moment came when Lucy and her dad took the steps to walk down the aisle. The ceremony was wonderful and very moving, Lucy and Jack had a selection of friends and family say a few words and it was fantastic.
When Lucy & Jack first got in touch, we discussed the venue, and when they knew I'd lived in Ashover, we got chatting to see if there were any potential spots to go for some couple portraits and some time for them to have a few moments alone. I suggested Ashover Rock - which Lucy knew as she grew up in the area. So, after the ceremony, we popped up to the Rock to take in the view (and were thankful for the breeze too!) We even had some strangers who i'm pretty sure had NO clue we were there. After, we headed down to their reception at Ashover Parish Hall where their guests awaited.
As soon as you walked in you could smell Imad's Syrian Kitchen food cooking away, my mouth waters at the thought of it now! It was insane! The afternoon was filled with lots of loveliness and before we knew it, speeches time had arrived and there didn't seem to be a dry eye in the house, either through a lot of laughter, (anoraks included!) or those truly difficult memories. Lucy's dad and brother then 'hit the decks' and proceeded to have an absolute cracker of an evening.
Thanks again to Lucy & Jack for having me, it was such a beautiful day. All the best for the future! ❤
